OMICRON 2025 SEMINAR (3)

CMC 500 Launch Seminar – Unlocking the Future of Protection System Testing

International Energy Technik in Partnership with OMICRON recently hosted a highly engaging and insightful seminar to mark the official launch of the CMC 500, the most cybersecure and versatile protection testing device on the market. This exclusive event brought together electrical engineers, utility experts, and protection specialists for a hands-on technical experience like no other.

Held in the presence of our partner’s regional experts from Bahrain, the seminar featured live demonstrations, with a special focus on 3-winding transformer differential testing—a crucial area in today’s complex grid environment.

What Was Covered

  1. The All-New CMC 500
Participants got a first-hand look at the next-generation CMC 500, a compact, lightweight, and modular test set designed to meet today’s evolving testing needs. With features like:
  • ISO/IEC-11889-compliant TPM2.0 for unmatched cybersecurity
  • Up to 10 adaptable output channels
  • High-output power of 300W for demanding applications
  • Enhanced safety adhering to ISO 13849-1 and EN 50191

Attendees learned how the CMC 500 is redefining flexibility, performance, and security in protection system testing.

  1. Improving Power System Reliability through Advanced CT/VT Testing
    Experts explored:
  • How to ensure accuracy verification in line with international standards
  • Diagnosing capacitance drifts and CVT failures
  • Wideband VT measurements for power quality
  • Advanced methods for PD measurement on transformers and generators
  • Tools like 3PARD to differentiate PD sources and assess insulation health

Major take homes were greater confidence for our customers in managing testing risks and complexities, they appreciated the valuable insights into modern diagnostics and monitoring techniques, and how to reduce unplanned outages and extend equipment lifespan

This event truly empowered attendees with the knowledge and tools to enhance their system reliability, safety, and performance in today’s digital grid environment.
